Biography
Sarah Sirota is a funny, smart, and engaging tutor who combines intellectual rigor with a Brooklyn-born and -raised personality to deliver a fun tutoring experience and first-rate outcomes. She has over a decade of experience in test preparation and college advising, including roles as tutor, college counselor, content writer, and company manager. Having worked at some of New York’s top boutique tutoring companies, Sarah has extensive experience in a variety of exams and subjects (including the ISEE, SHSAT, ACT, SAT and GRE), and with students of all ages. She has even traveled to England and Greece to prepare students for the SAT I and SAT Subject Tests. As a college counselor, Sarah guides families through the application process from soup to nuts, helping students select schools and draft essays as well as choose competitive classes and extracurricular activities. She is proud to have helped many students gain acceptance to the schools of their choice, including Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Brown, Dartmouth, Cornell, Columbia and many of the country’s other top colleges.
At Midwood High School, Sarah excelled in math and science, scoring a perfect 800 on the math section of the SAT and 5 on the AP Statistics and AP Calculus BC exams, as well as making the semifinals of the prestigious Intel Science Talent Search. After graduating cum laude from Dartmouth College, Sarah became the Vice President of a Manhattan tutoring firm, where she was responsible for hiring and training a full roster of tutors. Later, Sarah left New York to pursue her MFA in Acting from the Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, where she currently teaches as an Adjunct Professor. As a tutor, Sarah aims to develop each student’s intellectual curiosity and critical thinking skills beyond the scope of the exam. Her artistic background enables her to connect with students from many different walks of life, and to cultivate creativity and a sense of play in her students.
When not tutoring, Sarah can be found performing on stage or hanging out in Brooklyn with her husband and her Persian cat, Oliver.
