Tutor Bio

Charles received his Ph.D. in Politics and has two years of experience teaching at the college level. He began tutoring part-time while writing his dissertation and greatly enjoys the more personal one-on-one approach to teaching. He is a California native currently based in New York City.

Charles tutors a wide range of students from junior high schoolers to college grads preparing for the SAT, ACT, SSAT, and GRE tests, as well as more subject specific preparation for the SAT Math and Physics subject tests. His favorite part of the job is helping students develop a growth mindset when they see how quickly they can improve if they put their mind to it. His proudest moments have been helping multiple younger students rapidly advance in math, moving from the 50th to the 90th percentiles in the math portion of the SSAT.

In his free time Charles enjoys cooking exotic foods from around the world, playing guitar on his Brooklyn rooftop, and reading novels. Although he loves New York, the beach is his natural habitat and he looks forward to one day returning to the sunny west coast.
