Growing up in Brockton, MA, Andres has been passionate about tutoring, and teaching in general, from an early age. In high school, he started teaching lower level science classes during his study periods. After high school, Andres went on to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Biology. During his studies he was hired to be a TA for an intro to physiology course where he tutored multiple students on a weekly basis and helped run the daily operations of the course. After completing undergrad, Andres completed his master’s in medical sciences, simultaneously interning in a cell biology laboratory.
After completing his thesis and graduating, Andres was hired at an immunology laboratory as well as at Inspirica where he has been tutoring students in the SSAT, ACT, ISEE, and SAT. Andres recently took the MCAT, is currently applying to medical school, and has a lot of experience with teaching science-based courses. His favorite part of tutoring has to be watching students’ progress through the course. He loves seeing how students pick up the given strategies and how they improve their test taking skills on a session to session basis. One of the proudest moments he has had as an Inspirica tutor was when one of his students received a 35 on his ACT. It was incredible to see his student score this high and be able to apply to schools he didn’t have on his radar. As a tutor, Andres makes sure that students are well prepared to reach their educational goals, which for him includes giving out college advice and ensuring students aren’t selling themselves short. Furthermore, Andres has worked with a wide range of students, from 3rd grade up to seniors in high school. He likes to employ different teaching strategies and ensures that his lessons plans meet the best possible learning style of a given student.
When not working, Andres can be found on the soccer field or hoopin’ on the basketball court. He enjoys reading a light novela and is a sucker for all you can eat sushi. Andres is currently residing in his old college town of Brighton, MA.
